About this policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access it, correct it or make a complaint.

We are a small business and are not currently required to follow the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We aim to handle your information in line with them anyway.

What we collect

When you visit our website, create an account, place an order or contact us, we may collect:

  • Contact details: your name, email address, phone number, and billing and delivery addresses.
  • Order details: what you bought, order history, delivery and return details, and payment confirmation. We do not see or store your full card number. Your card details are handled by our payment provider.
  • Account details: your login email and a password, if you create an account.
  • Messages: what you tell us when you contact us or leave a review.
  • Website use: your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, what you add to your cart and what you buy. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see below).
  • Marketing choices: whether you have agreed to receive marketing emails.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information such as health details, racial or ethnic origin, religion or political opinions. Please do not send us this kind of information.

How we collect it

We collect information directly from you, for example when you check out, sign up for emails, create an account, write a review or message us. We also collect some information automatically when you use our website.

Why we use it

We use your information to:

  • take and deliver your orders, process payments and handle returns and refunds
  • send order and delivery updates
  • reply to your questions and requests
  • send you marketing emails, but only if you have agreed (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • ask you to review products you bought
  • measure how our website is used and show our ads to people who may be interested
  • prevent fraud and keep our website secure
  • keep business and tax records as the law requires

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, and only as needed for their service:

  • Shopify, which hosts our online store and holds customer, order and email sign-up data.
  • Shopify Payments, which processes your payment, together with its payment partners.
  • Australia Post, which needs your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.
  • Judge.me, which runs our product reviews and sends review request emails.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), through the Meta pixel on our website (see Cookies and tracking below).
  • Government and regulators, if the law requires it.

Sending information overseas

Our store data is stored by Shopify in the United States, and Shopify may also process it in Canada and other countries. Meta handles pixel data in the United States and other countries. Judge.me's servers may be outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to choose providers with sound privacy and security practices, but we cannot control their systems directly.

We currently ship to Australian addresses only.

Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are needed for the shop to work, such as keeping items in your cart. Where local law requires it, our store shows a cookie consent banner so you can choose.

We also use the Meta pixel, which sends information about your activity on our site (such as pages viewed, items added to your cart and purchases) to Meta. We use this to measure our ads and show them to people who may like our products. We have set it to share the minimum browsing information. We do not send your name or email address to Meta through the pixel.

You can limit tracking by:

  • changing your browser's cookie settings or using a browser or extension that blocks trackers
  • adjusting your ad settings on Facebook and Instagram
  • contacting us, and we will help where we can

Marketing emails

If you sign up to our email list, we store your email address in Shopify. We send marketing emails only to people who have agreed to receive them. Every marketing email will include an unsubscribe link, and we action unsubscribe requests within 5 working days. You will still get order and account emails after you unsubscribe from marketing.

Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you using automated systems that significantly affect you. Shopify may run automated fraud checks on orders. If we cancel an order because of a check, a person reviews it first.

Keeping your information safe

We keep your information in Shopify and the apps listed above, which use security measures such as encryption. We use two-step login on our admin accounts and limit who can access customer data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet is safe.

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will act quickly to contain it and tell the people affected and, where appropriate, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

How long we keep it

  • Order and payment records: 5 years, to meet tax and record keeping requirements.
  • Marketing email subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
  • Customer accounts: until you ask us to close them, or after 3 years of inactivity.
  • Enquiry emails: 2 years.

When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove details that identify you.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing sales@addostore.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will reply within 30 days. If we cannot give you access, we will explain why.

You can also ask us to delete your information. We will do so unless we need to keep it for legal or tax reasons.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handled your information, email sales@addostore.com. We will acknowledge it within 5 working days and aim to respond within 30 days.

If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Children

Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Our site may link to other websites, such as our social media pages. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
